    Chocolate Caramel Brownies

      Servings:   16 brownies

    Ingredients
    • 1 1/4 cups Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Chocolate and Cocoa
      1 1/2 Ghirardelli Milk & Caramel SQUARES
      2 eggs
      1/4 cup sugar
      1 teaspoon vanilla extract
      1/2 cup unsalted butter or margarine, melted
      2/3 cup all-purpose flour
      1/4 teaspoon baking powder
      1/4 teaspoon salt

    Directions
    1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

    2. Stir eggs with sugar and vanilla.

    3. Add melted butter.

    4. Sift ground chocolate with flour, baking powder, and salt.

    5. Stir into egg mixture.

    6. Spread half the batter into a greased 8" square pan.

    7. Place chocolate squares in a single layer on top of batter.

    8. Cover the squares layer with the remaining batter.

    9. Bake 20 to 30 minutes.

    10. Cut into 16 to 20 squares.
