Handyman

Summary

Ghirardelli Chocolate Manufactory (Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop) located at Ghirardelli Square seeks a Full-time, self -motivated and professional handyman/maintenance technician. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing all of the facilities and equipment. Individual is required to produce quality work. Ideal candidate is an individual with experience as "Jack of All Trades". Position requires working with several food service and retail properties and includes such duties as:

• Maintaining outer structures of buildings to include oiling, painting, and patching roofs
• Light painting
• Drywall repairs
• Replacing signs and light bulbs
• Light carpentry
• Trim and siding replacement
• Power washing
• Welding
• Minor repairs (doors, locks, washer, etc)
• Basic plumbing (clogged drains, minor leak repairs, faucet replacement, etc)
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs as needed or required to maintain day-to-day operations
• Respond to emergencies as needed; includes occasional after-hours calls

Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Experience in carpentry and drywall repair required
• Welding experience considered a plus
• Must have extensive background for maintaining records such as inventory, preparing inspection reports, using PC
• Fluent English written and verbal communication skills
• This position requires own truck/transportation and tools
• Experience in building and property maintenance, preferably in the food service industry
• Good customer service, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Attention to details
• Ability to use general maintenance tools and equipment
• Contractor License, a plus
• Knowledge of Cal/OSHA safety requirements necessary
• A valid U.S. Driver's License and clean DMV record

Compensation includes Reimbursement for mileage and material costs.
